Beginner's Theology - The Long Story

A Christmas meditation:
Why Jesus Is Everything . . .

At the start of it all, God became really, really angry
with Adam and Eve.  The nature and substance of being a
human changed that day.  We were no longer in communion
with our Father, Creator and Friend.

We became less spiritual creatures.  We were suddenly
trapped in an exclusively carnal existance.  It was a big
day for the species.

God is Spirit.  He once walked with Adam & Eve.  But we
were now separated and carnal.  We could never walk that
walk again.  We now walk to get tired.

As far as Adam goes, he was given a job and certain death.
Eve was to have pain in child bearing and (this is odd)
"her love was to be for the man", as a curse.  Eve was also
sentenced to certain death.

Being their (species) children, the same goes for us.  This
is what that "original sin" thing is supposed to be about.
Its a species thing, its not about being born bad.

God never forgets that He is God.  He is Glory Itself . . .
But imagine Him seeing his children as separate.  Watching
them trapped and stumbling in the painful, unfair and low
estate of their "reality".  Certain death before them.  How
God must have wept!

Many of the pricipalities in His Kingdom were witness to
His sanctification of things made from clay (us).  Some of
the ones who were made from fire mocked Him.  And only God
is the I AM.  He won't be mocked.

God is more important than us, so we die, because He said
so when he was angry.  Plain and simple.  It ain't pretty,
and its a stiff "time-out" for a disobedient species.  But
it happens all the time.

Make no mistake, God loves his children.  It is not unusual
for God to repent from his punishments.  But it looks like
certain death is gonna stand for awhile.

God is really more merciful than I am making Him sound.  He
was always clear about wanting his Children to come back.
Seems like we never think that's a good idea.  And so it
goes on and on . . .

God made a friend along the way.  Only 11 others have that
title.  When Abraham sacrificed to God, as was the
worldwide custom, God was pleased, and decided to begin a
process of visitation.  God decided to build a nation in
the view of the entire world.

We have to presume that the nation God built to proclaim
His Glory had, for the most part, served him appropriately.  Israel was a significant force in the world, until Rome.
The whole world was aware of the reality and effectiveness
of the God of Abraham.  There are many sources of the times
that indicate this.

But we were still separate from God.  Separated with
undernourished and starving parts of ourselves. Those parts
being our souls - our original selves. Souls that we can
barely access in a carnal universe.  But God still wanted
to share Himself with us.  This is what disgusted the
fallen ones.

Well, God is Love.  Sacrifice is possibly the highest
expression of love in this physical universe. The concept
of sacrifice is not totally in sync with our Newtonian laws
of everything.

It is the best way for fallen mankind to understand Love.
Israel had been sacrificing for millenea.  So God would
would increase his visitation, and lead us out of our
carnal prison with Sacrifice.

God decided to perform a Sacrifice to Himself to redeem our
species.  To confirm His glory among the principalities and
all of creation, He would take on the flesh of the clay,
which He made and would not repent from.

He came to us as a servant to show us what its all about.
Fully God and fully man, he called his children Israel to
celebrate this Gift. He accepted Gentiles and called them
to the Feast too.

Although nobody on Earth picked up on it, God himself was
teaching and healing; forgiving and loving His way toward
our deliverance from that certain death.  To be slaughtered
as the obedient Lamb, like Abraham's sacrifice.  This, so
that he may once again share Himself with his children.  By
His Resurrection, he emerged as the victorious conquerer of
certain death.

Eden is gone.  Our new home is in the very courts of God
since the New Covnenant between God and His people. The
"first death" will stand as the doorway to that place.

God invited the whole world to become His children Israel,
effectively establishing His Kingdom on Earth, as it
continues today.  I bet He's gonna be dimayed at how badly
we underhandled it.

For His decent into flesh, God chose Mary, A woman pure and
pleasing enough for him to live within.  A woman of the
line of God's beloved David.

According to the "Protoevangelion of James" (Jesus'
brother), She was a temple virgin who had grown old enough
to leave the order and marry.  She was betrothed to the
widower Joseph who was old.
She contained God and was not consumed.  She was the new
Eve.

She was free to disobey, as in Eden.  She could have said
"No" to Gabriel.  If The Blessed Mother had opted-out, any
chance for life after death could be delayed for thousands
of years more.

Kinda gives you something to be happy about.
